VITAMINS AND SUPPLEMENTS

VITAMINS AND SUPPLEMENTS

I often get asked what vitamins I take and where I get them.  I know the quality of your vitamins and supplements is very important.  You don't want to waste money on vitamins that don't work.

I have used a company called Nature's Sunshine for 16 years!  I have been extremely happy with them and know they work quickly and effectively. My whole family has taken Nature's Sunshine and we all have seen results. They are certified organic and of high quality.

The best supplements for you will depend on factors like your gender, age, medical history, genetics, level of physical activity, and diet.  Even the best supplements shouldn't take the place of eating a variety of nutrient-dense foods. While supplements like vitamins, minerals, antioxidants can help to support specific functions, the real goal of using supplements should be to enhance an already-balanced diet.

It's Wintertime in Michigan, where we don't get a lot of sunshine.  Here are the vitamins I'm taking in this season of my life:

Super Omega 3 EPA:

A fish vitamin that doesn't have the fish taste!
  • Promotes brain health
  • Encourages healthy circulatory function

HSN-W:

Hair Skin and Nails
If you want healthier hair, stronger nails, and more supple skin, feed them! HSN-W provides a unique blend of herbs traditionally used to support the health of hair, skin, and nails. These botanicals, including wild-crafted horsetail, stems from Bulgaria, also offer great antioxidant benefits.

Zinc:

I remember the saying "if you lack zinc, you stink!"  This is so true for me.
From antimony to zinc, your body needs minerals. Zinc is key to hundreds of important functions, including sugar and protein metabolism, DNA formation, and energy production. It’s also needed for proper growth and development, and it helps strengthen your immune system.
  • Supports immune function

Vitamin D3:

A sunshine vitamin because I live in Michigan in the Winter.

It’s hard to get enough of the sunshine vitamin when you don’t have lots of sun or time to be outside. Open a bottle of sunshine with Vitamin D3. Improve bone health and boost your immune system and mood all year long.
  • May help support a healthy mood
  • May contribute to immune system health
  • Supports bone health

Calcium Magnesium:

You need good partners in life, like calcium and magnesium.
They work together with you for a healthy body. But you often don’t get enough. Fill any dietary gaps for these essential minerals with SynerPro® Calcium-Magnesium, and get a few bonus minerals too!
  • Supplies vital nutrients for body function
  • Promotes a healthy structural system

Vitamin A & D:

I had an eye injury and that is why I take this along with Perfect Eyes Supplement.
  • Supports general health.
  • Is vital for healthy skin and eyes.
  • Supports strong bones and teeth.

Elderberry D3fense:

This is my go-to if we start feeling like we may get sick or to stay from getting sick.
Less sun means less vitamin D. And that leads to a weaker immune system. You don’t have time for that! Strengthen your immune system with Elderberry D3fense, our exclusive blend of vitamin D and immune-boosting elderberry, echinacea, olive leaf, and royal jelly. Because you deserve the best.
  • Supports the immune system
  • Daily maintenance formula

Do you take daily vitamins?

This is truly something I would highly recommend, not just for your own health, but for the health and well-being of your entire family!

I find putting them in a place that reminds you to take them every day very helpful.

Good, Clean Sleep

Good, Clean Sleep
Getting a good night's rest is so important for our health!
Sleep is key to your health and trim journey!

Poor sleep can increase appetite, likely due to its effect on hormones that signal hunger and fullness.
Lack of sleep creates cell damage and inflammation, and decreases self-control and decision-making, especially when it comes to food choices.

It's time to get SERIOUS about sleep!

Lack of sleep, poor sleep, and disrupted sleep are linked to:
 Cell damage
Effects on decision making
Energy levels
Heart disease
 Inflammation
Insulin resistance
Poor Memory
Bad Mood
 Obesity
Stroke
Weight gain

So what can you do to get more sleep?
Exercise in the morning
Go outside for a walk
No caffeine after 2:00 pm
Decaf hot, herbal teas after dinner
Jammies on after dinner
Good book, offline and in bed by 9:00 pm
Lights out at 10:00 pm
Keep the room dark or wear an eye mask

I love crawling into fresh sheets, but knowing they are healthy for me, and knowing that I don't have my mouth, eyes, and nose breathing in toxic chemicals is even better.

Buying a higher-quality sheet that is organic and super silky soft is worth it to me.  Not only does it keep me healthy, but it is also a good reminder that I need to wash my face before bed to keep my pillowcase clean.

Having a clean face and breathable, temperature-controlled, silky-soft sheets helps me sleep soundly.  If nothing else went right that day, at least I can look forward to a nice bed and good sleep!

Not only is it good for my health, but it's good for my skin because it's anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and hypoallergenic.  It combats backne and acne!

It's also good for my hair and if you have long, curly hair, you need a silk pillowcase to preserve your curls and combat frizz and dryness.

FACIAL STEAMER

FACIAL STEAMER
Heating up your skin prepares it for wonderful and healthy products. While sitting in the sauna is very beneficial, I do understand that not everyone has access to one, or has the time needed to sit in one.
This is another option for those who don't have access to time or a sauna.

The facial steamer is designed to clear pores and stimulate circulation. Steaming your face helps to soften the oil and dirt inside your pores, which makes it super easy to extract blackheads and unclog your pores.
Also, when you heat up your skin, it becomes more receptive to whatever ingredients you apply on top, making your serums and moisturizers even more effective.

So basically, steaming takes your skin to the next level! You want to apply your healthy skincare products immediately after you turn off the steam to trap in the hydration.

Take a look at some of the amazing benefits of facial steaming:

Red Light Therapy

Red Light Therapy

Have you heard of Red-Light Therapy?

This is new for me, but I feel like I can give a testimonial on it because my whole family has used something very similar to it for many years.

I use it consistently every single day and I noticed all the benefits from it shown below.

The red light I have is wonderful because it's on wheels! This allows me to multitask while doing it! With the previous one I'd been using for years, I had to be laying down.

I'm a multitasking kind of gal, so I'm loving this red light on wheels!

Beside the multitasking benefits, here are some amazing changes you will see:

During devotions and when everyone is in the same space, you better believe the red light is on in my home!

The Gua Sha Stone

The Gua Sha Stone

I’m sorry… Gua what? Who has heard of this?

Years ago, on my quest to heal my skin, this Rose Quartz Gua Sha Facial Lifting Tool  came along with my healthy skin care products. I had no idea what it was even called, what it was for, or how to use it!

I liked it because it was pink, very smooth, and heart-shaped.

In my research, I found out the benefits and how to use it, so I put it in my sauna, which became a consistent daily habit for me, and I started using it.

The key was to use it after my face was dripping in sweat, so it glided smoothly across my face. If you don't have a sauna, you will need an oil to help it glide across your skin.  I really like the feel of it a lot as it is very relaxing, and it's helped my skin puffiness, shape and a bump I have by my eye.

It helps with so many skin problems. Just take a look:

My Facebook Page is an amazing place to stop by. I have a great community space to teach about caring for your skin.

Where did I find the Gua Sha Stone and oil?

Use the Rose Quartz Gua Sha Tool and Dew Date Facial Oil together to revitalize your skin, melt away tension, and reduce puffiness. Gua sha is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine to promote healing with improved circulation through gentle massage, and when combined with the soothing Dew Date Facial Oil, will help your skin look and feel refreshed. Move the quartz in massaging, upward strokes along your face to release tension in facial muscles while soothing and energizing skin. This motion will help Dew Date Facial Oil soak into your skin for extra glowing benefits.

Here is a video tutorial on how to use the stone:

Remember that I am always here to guide you, should you have any questions about which skincare products to choose or help you build these daily habits.
